Learning Questions

Nj Ged

Q. I moving to NJ with a drivers license from another state. I already have EAD and waiting for I-485 approval. I was looking at documents needed. They have a 6 point verification seen below. You can only have 2 documents that are valued 1 point. This is what I have: EAD - 3 pts SS Card - 1pt Out of state drivers license - 1 pt Marriage Certificate (Foreign) - 3 pts By the looks of it, I think I will pass. My only concern is the Marriage Certificate. It is required that it is either the original or certified copy with State or Municipal Seal (Raised). My marriage certificate has a seal but not raised, more like a stamped seal. Would NJ DMV allow this? Without the Marriage Certificate, I would only have 5 points, not enough to get a NJ license. If this is true, I only have 2 choices, turn down job offer and do not move to NJ or drive with out of state license until I get the Form I-551. I hope some can shed some light about this issue. I don't want to go to NJ DMV and be turned down. That would inform them about my moving to NJ. If I wait till I get the GC approved, would they know I've been in NJ for the past 6 months driving with an out of state license?

A. 1 pt State professional license NJ public assistance card with photo Social Security** card High school diploma or GED (general equivalency diploma) Bank statement/record (cannot be submitted in conjunction with ATM card) ATM (automated teller machine) card with preprinted name and applicant's signature (cannot be submitted in conjunction with bank statement) Current health insurance card or current prescription card or current employee ID card with printed pay stub Property tax statement, bill or receipt issued by a NJ municipality High school certificate (written test waiver) Veterans Administration universal access photo identification card Current NJ non-digital photo driver license Current photo driver license from any other state of the US including the District of Columbia I would call them if I were you - I think you'll be fine and I would think you could use your passport as well. I had to call them when I first moved here and they were very helpful once I got to speak to the right person: However, It depends which office you go to, avoid the rather large lady if you're going to the Baker's Basin, Lawrenceville one. I eventually went to a main office (Trenton) and they were extremely helpful and pleasant. I suggest taking everything you think you may need as it's better to take too many things than not enough.
